Privacy at AreaTrace
AreaTrace is a content reference site. We do not require accounts, we do not collect names or email addresses through normal browsing, and we do not maintain a database of phone subscribers, owners, or contact details.
What we collect automatically
Like virtually all websites, our web servers log standard request metadata: the IP address making the request, the user-agent string sent by your browser, the page requested, and the time of the request. These logs are used for operational purposes — measuring traffic, debugging errors, and identifying abuse — and are retained for a short period before being rotated out.
Cookies and analytics
AreaTrace uses minimal first-party cookies necessary for site operation. We may also use a privacy-respecting analytics product to measure aggregate traffic. Where required by Canadian law (PIPEDA) or Quebec's Law 25, we present a consent banner before any non-essential cookies are set.
Advertising
AreaTrace is supported by display advertising. Our ad slots may be served by third-party ad networks (such as Google AdSense) that use cookies and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads. These third-party networks operate under their own privacy policies. You can manage personalised advertising preferences through the controls those networks provide — for example, Google's Ads Settings or the YourAdChoices opt-out for Canada.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect phone numbers entered into our lookup field beyond what is necessary to render the requested page within a single request. We do not store search terms against your IP address, we do not build user profiles, and we do not sell, rent, or trade browsing data.
Children
AreaTrace is a general audience reference site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
